Membership

Church membership is a believer’s intentional commitment to belong to, serve, and grow within a local body of Christ. The New Testament presents the church as God’s household, the body of Christ, and the flock of God—each picture showing that Christians are meant to live in committed relationship with one another. Church membership makes that belonging visible by identifying those who are part of a local church family, allowing pastors to shepherd, members to encourage and hold one another accountable, and believers to use their gifts to build up the body of Christ. It provides spiritual care, protection from drifting away from the truth, and a tangible way to live out Jesus’ call to love, serve, and make disciples together as his people.
